A new research initiative has emerged, focusing on publicly owned land in British Columbia that may be suitable for affordable housing projects. This tool aims to address the ongoing housing crisis by identifying potential development sites.

Initial findings indicate that there are more than 50,000 parcels of publicly owned land across the province. These parcels could potentially accommodate up to 273,000 affordable housing units, highlighting a significant opportunity for development.

The identification of these lands could play a crucial role in alleviating housing shortages, although further analysis and planning will be necessary to determine the feasibility of such projects.
